How it all happened..

No Time to Read?

It all started with the onset of the Covid pandemic where I started designing posters purely out of passion. I got inspired by the brutalism in poster designing and even tried the everyday poster challenge for about a month and designed posters for my college.

Around this time, I got introduced to Figma by a friend while working on a personal project.

Then I came across a design hackathon which allowed me to use my UI design skills and solve a problem.

There was something that I loved about the hackathon. Even though my designs weren’t looking  great, I really enjoyed the thought-process behind every decision I made. That’s when I knew for sure that this is something that I want to explore.

Then, I began playing around Figma and created many designs. I joined freelance sites like Fiverr and Upwork and applied what I learnt to real projects.

I tried my hands at 3d modelling, logos, animations and advanced prototyping as add-ons to my UI skillset.

Though I was aware of UX and applied it inadvertantly in my projects, I wanted to learn more about the UX process, and apply it in a cautious, methodological way. So took courses from Coursera and Interaction Design Foundation. They gave me a detailed and thorough understanding of the UX Process.

I began taking weekly UX Challenges and this gave me a wonderful opportunity to work on different problems and come up with quick, feasible solutions.

However, these challenges being really short didn't allow me enough time to expand more on a problem. So I took a problem statement from there and expanded on it to create a detailed case study for a 2-week hackathon and bagged the 1st place.

After reading the books Hooked, Persuasive Technology and Ruined By Design, I came to understand how technology hijacks user attention and persuades them and also how ethical, humane design can prevent this and contribute towards user wellbeing.

I’m always constantly looking for ways to improve and expand my knowledge. I love connecting with like-minded people and sharing thoughts as I believe it is the quickest way to  to broaden perspectives. If you want to talk about design, technology, ethics, productivity, cricket, feel free to say hi.

How I give back to the community..

I have always believed in the notion of giving back to the community. As a self-taught designer I know it is extremely difficult to find the proper resources and guides. So I use Instagram to post regular tips, tutorials and guide beginner designers. I also released a free UX Case Study template (10k+ downloads) in an aim to help designers structure their case studies better. I’m also constantly looking to contribute to good causes that aim to make an impact in the world. For instance, I’m currently volunteering as Web/UX designer for the Center for Community Counselling, a non-profit organization that makes counseling accessible to everyone.

What I do in my freetime..

In my freetime, I like to hear music, play cricket with friends, read books, watch movies and play video games. I use this time to organize my stuff and prepare for further work. I explore design trends and new software and tools to create interesting designs. I also spend a lot of my freetime ideating, creating content for Instagram, and working on new products. I’m currently working on a gradient wallpaper pack and a UX book.
